 International Researches

International research center of geology survey of Iran in line with policies of Islamic Republic of Iran was established in the year of National Unity and Coherence to determine different geological potentials through all the world, common cooperation with other countries and optimum use of available facilities for economical developments. In the year of innovation and invention, Applied Research Center of Geology Survey of Iran has modern projects to be conducted for expansion of international relations.
Among most important objectives are:
- Innovation in different fields of international projects and expansion of relations with Latin America countries
- Design and creation of geological databanks in Islamic member states for the first time
- Establishment of the largest lab center of middle east for exalting Iran's name
- Providing a proper opportunity for geological specialists
- Comprehensive data presentation of geological and related fields
- Providing an equal chances for publics in different mineral fields and related investments
- Expansion of cooperations with all data production centers which are active on data exchange in different geological fields on international levels
- Providing software and hardware facilities to gather geological data
- Coordination of policies and production standards as well as presentation of  local geological data
- Increase of geological data application and exploration of ground resources on international level
- Data presentation on ground potentials on regional and international level to attract investments
- Comprehensive presentation of geological data to reduce investment risks in all civil, mineral, environmental, energy and communication projects

One of the most significant sections of this website is international researches in which different international projects in common with geology survey of Iran has been introduced and include ECO member states, ALBA member states and different projects of Africa.

International Research Center

ALBA Member States
One of the modern projects of Geology Survey of Iran in the year of innovation and invention in direction with boosting international ties is ALBA member states. ALBA is a set of countries which has been designed based upon a model of political, economical and social integrity of Caribbean and South America countries and has association in different field of geography, historical and cultural connections, common needs and cooperations. Now, Alba member states include countries such as Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Cuba and Dominica.
Geological Survey of Iran intends to expand relationship between Islamic Republic of Iran and ALBA member states to establish National Geosciences Database of ALBA member states. More information is available on website:

ECO Member States
Economical Cooperation Organization (ECO) was founded to expand the industrial, economical, technical and cultural cooperations between ECO member states. National Geosciences Database of ECO member states fulfill the increasingly requirements of administrative, financial and research center of ECO in geological fields. All geological data on National Geosciences Database of ECO are classified into 5 main categories such as geology, resources & reserves, geography and natural disasters and medical geology.
In third session of ECO mine experts which was held in Islamabad on September 20-21, 2006, creation of a similar system based upon network with the name of Geosciences Database of ECO was recommended by Iran representative. Geology Survey of Iran was appointed as manager of project to conduct feasibility studies. Iran was requested to provide e a format to collect data from ECO member states.
Meeting of directors of Geological Surveys of ECO countries was held with some representatives from different countries such as Islamic Republic of Iran (host), Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Tajikistan Republic, Turkey as well as representatives of ECO secretariat on December 30-31, 2007 in Tehran. The representatives of ECO countries, in this meeting, discussed about recent developments of their Geological Surveys.

Performed Projects Related to ECO Member States:
- Feasibility studies of ECO member states
- Format design for data collection
- Holding training courses
- Arrangement of mineral distribution map of ECO member states
- Metalogeny map preparation of ECO member states on scale of:1: 500000, 1:1000000
- Arrangement of geochemical data related to fundamental studies such as geology, geophysics, geochemistry and etc.

Now, different general and specialized data banks have been created, as follow:
ECO member states data collection from different resources and
Different performed activities include:
• Data collection of ECO member states and offering them through website: www.ecogeodb.com
• Data collection of geographical and geological layers, earthquake, soil, mineral, topography, correction, unification and ultimately, preparation of related maps
• Design of databanks including mines and deposits, earthquake, minerals, laboratories and indexes( first phase of project)

Africa
One of the most important projects of Geology Survey of Iran in international researches is Africa. The other main project which has been performed in this region is Sudan database.
List of activities performed for National Geosciences Database of Sudan:
- Visit to different sectors of GSI such as geology, medical geology, mineralogy, aerial geophysics and laboratories
- Visit to National Geosciences Database ( NGDIR) and international researches
- Ultra hydrogeology projects and activities ( Venezuela, Latin America countries, ECO member states, etc)
- Visit to porphyry copper mine and different steps from processing to final refinery
- Familiar with different software and hardware as well as GSI personnel
- Familiar with different potentials in analytical and instrumental fields of branches such as geology, hydrogeology, environmental and medical analysis
- GSI cooperation to exchange technology in different fields of geochemistry, geophysics exploration and chemistry labs
- Construction of different sectors such as marine geology, environmental studies and medical geology in this country
